Lucy Laurene Jenkins

Ms. Lucy is what she was often called by those who knew and loved her.  She wore many hats:  Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Friend and Daughter Ruler (Princess Kokoma 1163).  But most of all she was a born again Child of God!  “Yes Sir, I know Jesus for myself and one day I’m going home to be with him” is often what she proclaimed.

Ms. Lucy was born and raised by Mama Julia in Clarksville, TN., where she received a good education and was working with her mother by the age of 12.  Her employment history consisted of everything from making beds to making cars;  she retired from Daimler Chrysler in 1989.

Ms. Lucy met her soul mate Ernie J., whom she called “Daddy”.  They were married in 1963; he treated her like a queen and vowed to be with her until death do them part.  He proudly repeated those vows on their 50th anniversary.  And he did just that; he was right by her side when God called her home June 1st 2015.

Ms. Lucy’s sons Aaron [Antonio, Lorraine], Kenneth [Kenneth, Ray, Fredrick] and grandaughter Monique [Tionte, Najahi (Don Costa)Ernest] preceded her in death.  She is survived by her loving husband and children, Debra [Monique, Braxton], Julie [Cyril, William, Austin and Richard], Elizabeth [Tyrone, (Amber) Raven (Aaron Beard)], Yvonne (Phillip) [Lorraine, Essence and Destiny], Jacqueline (Ray), [Charles (Jenovia), Shaneece], and many more grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Ms. Lucy was a wonderful, dynamic, classy lady who loved unconditionally.  She always said what was on her mind.  She told what God loved “the truth” the biggest part of who she was, is family.  She loved her family and we love and adorned her.

Visitation will be at Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church, 1599 E. Sycamore, Kokomo, IN 46901, Saturday, June 6th, 2015 from 9-11 a.m., with the transition services immediately following.  The repass will be in the family life center when the service is over.
